Looking Back at DDC Open 2026
ICSRange participated in DDC Open 2026 at Aalborg University in Copenhagen, where students, researchers, and industry professionals came together to share knowledge and experiences within cybersecurity.
As part of the event’s OT track, our CEO, Mikael Vingaard, delivered a presentation on how the ICSRange research team works to identify vulnerabilities in industrial OT systems. The session provided attendees with insight into some of the methods and considerations involved in assessing and understanding the security of industrial environments.
A key theme throughout the presentation was that security testing in OT environments requires a different approach than traditional IT security assessments. Beyond identifying vulnerabilities, it is essential to understand the systems being tested and the potential operational impact of testing activities. As a result, the presentation focused not only on what should be done when assessing industrial systems, but also on the common pitfalls and practices that should be avoided.
During the session, Mikael also shared selected examples of vulnerabilities identified by the ICSRange research team. These examples highlighted some of the challenges that continue to exist within industrial systems and reinforced the importance of ongoing security efforts as OT and IT environments become increasingly interconnected.
The event also provided a valuable opportunity to engage with participants interested in industrial cybersecurity and to discuss some of the challenges and opportunities facing the industry today.
We would like to thank Aalborg University, the DDC Open organizers, and everyone who attended the session and contributed to the discussions.
We appreciate the opportunity to share our experiences and contribute to the ongoing conversation around industrial cybersecurity and security testing of OT systems.
